Some antivirus apps on macOS flag SoundID Reference Measure as a Trojan by mistake and move it to quarantine. Measure then won't open, and SoundID Reference shows "SoundID Reference Measure app not installed". This article shows how to get Measure working again.

Measure won't open or shows "Measure app not installed"
After you install or update SoundID Reference, your antivirus app may move SoundID Reference Measure to quarantine. The alert names one of these threats:
- MacOS:Agent-BRF [Trj] (Norton, Avast, AVG)
- TR/OSX.Agent.BRF (Avira, TotalAV)
- Trojan.MacOS.Generic.PFH (VirusBuster)
SoundID Reference Measure doesn't contain a virus. The antivirus flags it by mistake.
After the quarantine, you may see one of these:
- SoundID Reference shows "SoundID Reference Measure app not installed" when you create a new calibration profile.
- The Measure icon in Applications is crossed out.
- macOS says "You can't open the application "SoundID Reference Measure" because it may be damaged or incomplete."
Reinstalling SoundID Reference doesn't help while the antivirus keeps flagging Measure. Our developers are working on a permanent fix.
Workaround
Go back to the earlier Measure version. The rest of SoundID Reference stays as it is.
- Uninstall only the Measure app: Removing the SoundID Reference apps.
- Download and install Measure 5.13.7.
- If macOS says it can't verify the installer, open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security and click Open Anyway. The button shows for about an hour after macOS blocks the installer.
If Measure still doesn't open, contact Support and tell us which antivirus app you use.
