Profile creation failed in VM PRO: “Upload task failed: HTTP 400”.

This article provides an overview of this Virtual Monitoring PRO measurement issue and how to resolve it.

In this article:

"Upload task failed: HTTP 400:" error message

At the end of the Measurement stage (Profile creation), the VM PRO Measure app can stop with "Upload task failed: HTTP 400:" This isn't a connection problem: our server received the measurement but couldn't create a profile from it, usually because the speaker and headphone measurements don't match.

Recommended steps

Start a new measurement and check that:

  • The EREF in-ear microphones are in the right ears (L in the left ear, R in the right; the marks are on the inside of the ear tips), and your headphones are on the right way round.
  • Your headphones are off during the speaker and room measurement stage, and your speakers are silent during the headphone measurement stage.
  • Your speakers and headphones are connected to the same audio interface, and the speakers play plain stereo. Bluetooth speakers and car systems with several speakers per side are the most common cause of this message.
  • During the loudness checks you change the level in small steps. If the app keeps asking you to go up and then down, start a little louder and turn it down slowly until it confirms.
