This article provides an overview of this VM PRO measurement issue and how to resolve it.
In this article:
"Invalid input data" error message
During the Profile Creation (profile compilation) step of the Virtual Monitoring PRO measurement, this warning may appear in several situations. We are currently investigating the issue to determine what can be improved on the software side.
For now, the warning indicates that the measurements taken from the speakers and headphones have data that cannot be used for the VM PRO profile creation, as the data may not match.
Recommended steps
We recommend starting a new measurement process, ensuring the following checklist has been followed:
- The EREF binaural in-ear microphones are placed correctly in the ears. The Left microphone is placed in the left ear, and the Right microphone is placed in the right ear. The microphone ear tips have L-R indicators on the inner side.
- Depending on the environment you're about to measure, ensure the speaker setup is configured as stereo. For example, environments such as cars use a multichannel (quadro) speaker configuration by default, and this could lead to a potential data mismatch, as the speaker measurement of a source will not be stereo.
- During the 'Loudness check' (output gain adjustment), we recommend reducing/increasing the gain in small increments to reach the best level that the software will confirm (avoid large adjustment jumps).
Contact support
If the issue persists and the indicated steps above did not resolve the issue, we recommend contacting Sonarworks Support by submitting a request below.
We will require the following details:
- The measurement device and environment details (what are you trying to measure - studio, car, club, etc.).
- The input/output hardware in use.
- Are you using a SoundID Reference speaker calibration profile (.swproj) during the VM PRO measurement process?
- The 'request.json' file from the measurement session:
