ORIA Mini Room Correction System

With the release of the ORIA Mini Room Correction Add-on, SoundID Reference introduces a new integration with Audient’s ORIA Mini. ORIA Mini is a monitor controller/DSP unit, used in your existing audio signal chain (added after your existing audio interface in the chain), featuring 1/4" TRS analog inputs and an SPDIF digital input.

The integration applies your SoundID Reference speaker calibration profiles directly to the ORIA Mini hardware DSP via the ORIA Control app, achieving near-zero latency audio playback with calibration. The device can be unplugged from the computer entirely, storing and switching between 4 calibration profiles and a bypass mode using a hardware button on the device.

While ORIA Mini is a stereo-only device, using stereo-only calibration profiles, a dedicated functionality via the separate SUB output allows for calibrated bass management for stereo setups with a subwoofer

For this integration, a dedicated new Sonarworks MREF Measurement Microphone has been released. The new MREF microphone has the same measurement accuracy as other Sonarworks measurement microphones, and it is included in all ORIA Mini boxes.

Existing profiles can be used for export and there is no need to remeasure (proceed straight to export), remeasuring is only required when using calibrated bass management. Also, for 2.0 measurements without a subwoofer, the ORIA Mini does not need to be connected or selected.

Frequently asked questions

ORIA Mini doesn't show up in the ORIA Control app (not connected)

If your ORIA Mini isn’t appearing in the ORIA Control app — or you’re seeing issues like failed firmware updates, failed profile exports, the "Unable to reach Audient ORIA" error during profile export, or no sound output — the most likely cause is that the device is powered but not actually connected for data transfer.

This can be misleading, since the front LEDs may still light up, indicating power even when the USB data link has failed. If you’re setting up for the first time, it may also be unclear how a successfully connected device appears in the app (see screenshot below).

Common causes and solutions

  • Use the original USB cable. ORIA Mini requires a USB 3.0 (or later) connection. Some third-party cables will only supply power and don’t support data transfer.
  • Avoid USB hubs and adapters. Many do not meet USB 3.0 specifications or may interrupt the connection.
  • If your computer only has USB-A ports, use a USB-C to USB-A cable rated for USB 3.0 (avoid adapters). The USB 3.0 capability is usually marked with blue plastic inside the USB-A port/connector.
  • Confirm your computer’s USB ports support USB 3.0 and reinstall USB drivers. On desktop PCs, especially, outdated or missing USB drivers can prevent proper detection (more common on older operating systems, such as Windows 10).
  • Install ORIA Control on your main drive. In rare cases, the device may not connect if the app is installed on a secondary or external drive. Reinstall it to the default system drive.

In case the steps listed above fail to resolve the issue, please contact Audient Support here.

How many calibration profiles can be stored?

The Profile button enables switching between the 4 favourite profiles stored on ORIA Mini (top 4 presets shown in the SPEAKER PRESETS section in the ORIA Control app) - tap the PROFILE button to cycle through the four top saved Profiles.

How is ORIA Mini connected to my signal chain?

ORIA Mini is a monitor controller/DSP unit, used in your existing audio signal chain (added after your existing audio interface in the chain). It features 1/4" TRS analog inputs and an SPDIF digital input.

For connecting to the ORIA Control app, a USB-C is used, which powers the device too. ORIA Mini can also be unplugged from the computer (retaining a power source via USB-C).

oria_mini_invert_except_device_v3.png

Does it support subwoofer setups and bass management?

Yes, ORIA Mini supports bass management for 2.0 stereo setups with a subwoofer, using its dedicated SUB output, and controlled by the ORIA app. This functionality is also supported by the SoundID Reference integration.

Follow these steps to set it up: Calibrated bass management with ORIA Mini.

Can a multichannel speaker profile be applied?

No, the ORIA Mini supports stereo only (with or without calibration). However, the SUB output on ORIA Mini provides dedicated bass management functionality for 2.0 stereo setups with subwoofer. Learn more above: Calibrated bass management with ORIA Mini.

Note: A SoundID Reference for Multichannel license is also compatible with ORIA Mini (but limited to stereo profiles only).

What are the latency and performance figures?

Latency

  • Analogue inputs: 0.38ms.
  • Digital Inputs: 2.2ms.

EQ, crossover, and filter type

This integration utilizes a 16-band IIR filter, along with High Shelf and Low Shelf filters. Both the Left and Right channels have their own Crossover filters (High Pass/Low Pass IIR), which can be set between 30Hz and 500Hz.

Sample rate

The ORIA Mini operates at 96kHz and uses sample rate conversion on the digital inputs; hence, the latency remains the same regardless of the sample rate used by the audio interface.

Can I quit SoundID Reference once the profile is applied?

Once the calibration profiles are applied to ORIA Mini, the SoundID Reference standalone app system-wide calibration is disabled automatically. You can then quit the SoundID Reference standalone app to save CPU and launch it only when changes need to be exported or a license check is required: How to fully quit the standalone app?

Once you have exported your 4 favorite presets, and the preset layout is finalized in the ORIA Control app, the "Launch on startup" setting in the SoundID Reference standalone app > Preferences can also be disabled, ensuring SoundID Reference will no longer launch upon computer startup (launch it only when needed).

Is there an EDU version available for the add-on?

No, student discounts are not available for the ORIA Mini Room Correction Add-on (not included in our Education program).

I already have a measurement microphone, can I buy ORIA Mini without the mic?

No, ORIA Mini is only sold as a complete package with the new Sonarworks MREF Measurement Microphone included, as a cost-effective new microphone design that maintains the same measurement accuracy, with each unit individually calibrated.

The decision to bundle it in every box was made to keep the product line simple, support collaboration with our partners and resellers, and ensure it works for most user groups, including new segments like home Hi-Fi systems and venues. A version without the mic is not available.

When using a Mac the SoundID direct export function for ORIA Mini only works, when SoundID Reference and ORIA Control app are able to communicate. Otherwise you will get an error message like this:

This happens when you install the software and select not to locate local devices on your network during the installation process. If you did so, you have to enable this feature manually afterwards to make sure both apps are able to communicate.

Open Mac system settings “Privacy & Security” and select “Local Network”:

Then enable access for the SoundID Reference and the ORIA Control app:

After enabling, the export to ORIA control will work immediately.
