Profile export availability and requirements
With Lynx Aurora⁽ⁿ⁾, only multichannel profile export is available (regular stereo profile export is not supported). SoundID Reference for Multichannel license is required for measuring multichannel speaker setups and exporting the profiles.
Profile export for Aurora⁽ⁿ⁾ is available in SoundID Reference version 5.11.0. and newer (download here).
Measuring your speaker setup
To begin the measurement process, launch the SoundID Reference Measure app. The 5-stage measurement process will take around 40-50 min to complete, depending on the complexity of your setup configuration.
If you're having difficulties following the process, or if you're encountering any warnings, we recommend following this guide: Stereo speaker measurement troubleshooting guide
Exporting a calibration profile
With the speaker calibration profile saved and ready to go, proceed as follows:
- Launch SoundID Reference standalone app
- Load your calibration profile (create an output preset)
-
Adjust the preset DSP settings (Target Curve, Listening Spot, Dry/Wet, etc.) - these settings adjustments will also be included in the profile export.
Note: Make sure Calibration is Enabled before exporting - Navigate to your preset in the left sidebar and click on '⋯' (the three-dot menu) > Export
- Select your export target device, and proceed with the export instructions in the app
Note: For exact details on what's included in the profile export, see the What's included in the profile export? section below.
By default, the exported calibration profile (a .bin file) will be saved in the following directory:
- Windows:
AppData\Local\Sonarworks\SoundID Reference\Sonarworks Projects\Exported Presets
- macOS:
/Library/Application Support/Sonarworks/Sonarworks Projects/Exported Presets
Note: The user\AppData and User/Library directories on Windows and macOS are hidden by default. To enable showing hidden files and folders, follow the instructions here: How to show hidden files Mac and Windows?
What's included in the profile export?
The exported calibration profile will include the following information and DSP settings adjustments by default:
- Calibration
- Target Mode
- Dry/Wet
- Listening Spot
- Limit Controls
- Preset Name
The exported calibration profile will not include the following information (your target device may use its own processing solutions for these DSP features):
- Output Gain: the gain control will take place on the integration device
- Filter Type: processing will take place on the integration device, using its own filter solution
- Safe Headroom: the values are exported in the profile, but might be applied differently on different integration devices
Note: Make sure that Calibration is Enabled before exporting the profile so that Calibration and all DSP settings are successfully included in the export.
Importing the profile into the NControl app for Aurora⁽ⁿ⁾
- Launch the NControl app (download here)
- Click on Menu > Dolby ATMOS setup, and set your speaker format
- Click on Load SoundID Preset, and select your exported calibration profile (.bin file)
- Once loaded, click on Apply to have the calibration applied
