Operating system requirements for SoundID Reference

• macOS 11 Big Sur, 12 Monterey, 13 Ventura, 14 Sonoma, 15 Sequoia, 26 Tahoe
• Windows 10, 11
• Stable internet connection (offline use not supported)

SoundID Reference for Headphones

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• SoundID Reference for Headphones product license.
• Sonarworks Supported Headphones or Sonarworks individually calibrated headphones.

SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones product license.
• 2.0 Stereo speaker system (with or without subwoofer).
• Supported Headphones or Sonarworks individually calibrated headphones.
• Audio interface with +48V phantom power support.
• Audio hardware setup consisting of a single external hardware device only during the speaker measurement process (additional preamp units are supported).
• XLR to XLR audio cable.
• A supported measurement microphone:
  • SoundID Reference Measurement Microphone
  • Sonarworks XREF 20 Measurement Microphone
  • Third-party omnidirectional measurement microphone

SoundID Reference for Multichannel

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• SoundID Reference v5.3 (or later) installed.
• SoundID Reference for Multichannel product license.
• 2.1-9.1.6 multichannel speaker system, see supported formats here.
• 2.0 stereo speaker system (with or without subwoofer).
• Sonarworks Supported Headphones or Sonarworks individually calibrated headphones.
• Audio interface with +48V phantom power support.
• Audio hardware setup consisting of a single external hardware device only during the speaker measurement process (additional preamp units are supported).
• XLR to XLR audio cable.
• Microphone stand and clip for 2.1-9.1.6 multichannel measurements.
• A supported measurement microphone:
  • SoundID Reference Measurement Microphone
  • Sonarworks XREF 20 Measurement Microphone
  • Third-party omnidirectional measurement microphone

Virtual Monitoring (Add-on)

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• One of the following product license options:
  • SoundID Reference product license (any license type) AND Virtual Monitoring Add-on product license.
  • Combined "SoundID Reference + Virtual Monitoring" license (includes both the SoundID Reference base license and the VM Add-on license under a single activation key): Virtual Monitoring | Pricing.
• Sonarworks Supported Headphones or Sonarworks individually calibrated headphones.

Virtual Monitoring PRO

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• One of the following product license options:
  • SoundID Reference product license (any license type) AND Virtual Monitoring PRO product license (Virtual Monitoring PRO will be a separate license key for existing Virtual Monitoring Add-on license owners who have upgraded to Virtual Monitoring PRO).
  • Combined "SoundID Reference + Virtual Monitoring PRO" license (includes both the SoundID Reference base license and the VM PRO license under a single activation key; also including the VM Add-on functionality): Virtual Monitoring | Pricing.
• SoundID Binaural In-ear Microphone: included in all VM PRO products.
• Any over-ear headphones (in-ear and on-ear headphones are not supported for VM PRO). 
• Access to the room/setup (stereo) to be measured.
• Sonarworks Supported Headphones or Sonarworks individually calibrated headphones.
  • Note: Sonarworks-supported/calibrated headphones are only required for the VM Add-on functionality (VM Add-on functionality is included in VM PRO). 

SoundID Reference Integrations

• Operating system requirements as shown above.
• SoundID Reference product license for the respective calibration profile type:
  • SoundID Reference for Headphones - headphone profile export
  • SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones - headphone and speaker profile export (stereo)

Supported integration devices and profile types

SoundID Reference supports a growing list of integrated devices. Each integration device might support different calibration profile types for export - speaker profiles (stereo and/or multichannel), and some integrations also support headphone profile export:
