License activation keys and upgrade codes
A license activation key (different from a license upgrade code) is a 24-character key, and it is easily recognized in this format (this is an example only): "Y36AUN-41ZNQ2-5STZR1-3DCXS1".
A license upgrade code (different from a license activation key) is an 11-character code, and it is easily recognized from the "UPG-..." in the first part of the code (this is an example only): "UPG-NFC45107".
After completing a software product purchase in the Sonarworks Store, the license details (activation key(s) and/or upgrade code(s)) will be delivered to the email address provided in the order details. For physical products from third-party sellers, often the key/code can be provided in the box physically.
How to find your activation key/upgrade code
If you are unable to find your activation key or upgrade code in your email inbox, you should be able to locate it by searching for keywords such as "license details", "Sonarworks order", "Sonarworks Store", "SW-", or messages from "Sonarworks Store" (orders@sonarworks.com) in your email history. Make sure to check your spam folders too.
If you haven't received your activation key within 5 minutes after completing the purchase in the Sonarworks Store, or if you're unable to find it, contact our support team by submitting a request below.

Here are some examples (newer and older) of a license details email delivery from Sonarworks Store (see screenshot below). If a single purchase contains multiple product keys or product upgrades, make sure to register/apply each separately in your Sonarworks Account.

If you have made your purchase in the Sonarworks Store, and the steps above didn't help, contact support by submitting a support request below. Make sure to include as much information as possible:
- Alternative email addresses that may have been used for purchasing or activating in the past.
- Order number and billing details (full name, address, etc.).
- Proof of purchase (invoices, receipts, etc.).

Frequently asked questions
User account missing, or license missing from the account?
It is important to understand that having purchased or activated Reference 3 or Reference 4 products in the past does NOT create a user account or register your key automatically. A user account has to be created manually by the user (standard practice for legal agreements, such as EULA, Terms and Conditions, and other policies).
If you're trying to log in and your email address is not recognized, it means the user account was never created. Similarly, if the user account is present but there are no licenses in it, you haven't registered your license activation key yet, or potentially, you have registered it in an account using an alternative email address.
