Setting up a custom location for the SoundID VoiceAI audio Cache folder

How to set up a custom file path for the audio cache folder for SoundID VoiceAI, in case the storage is low on your main drive, or for other file organization reasons.

Custom Cache folder location via the "settings.xml" file 

The Cache folder in SoundID VoiceAI can accumulate and grow in size quickly, which might present a storage space issue on your main driver or other challenges. While there is no dedicated functionality yet for setting up a custom location for it, there is a manual workaround is possible via the settings.xml file. Follow the instructions below to set it up.

 

Note: The settings.xml is created automatically when the plugin is loaded in DAW for the first time, so ensure to load SoundID VoiceAI in DAW at least once for the settings.xml file to be created.

 

macOS 

  1. Navigate to the SoundID VoiceAI directory using Finder > Go > Go to Folder:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Sonarworks/SoundID VoiceAI
  2. Right-click the settings.xml file > Open with > TextEdit
  3. Go to the CachePath entry and replace the pathname in the "quotation marks"
  4. Save the file before closing

 

Important: Double-check for any additional symbols copied in the filepath by mistake. The path format should remain exactly as it was before:

How to obtain the replacement filepath you wish to use

  1. Right-click on the new custom path folder
  2. Press and hold the Option key
  3. Copy as Pathname

Windows

  1. Navigate to the SoundID VoiceAI directory using by entering this location in Windows Explorer:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Sonarworks/SoundID VoiceAI
  2. Right-click the settings.xml file > Edit in Notepad (or open with any other text editor)
  3. Go to the CachePath entry and replace the pathname in the "quotation marks"
  4. Save the file before closing

 

Important: Double-check for any additional symbols copied in the filepath by mistake. The path format should remain exactly as it was before:

  1. Navigate to the needed folder
  2. Double-click on the filepath at the top
  3. Use Ctrl+C to copy
