More unusual multichannel setups?

Not planned

Hi there,

Currently I’m building a system where I need 6.0. I have no use for the centre or LFE speakers. However it appears that I can’t tell SoundID to just not worry about those channels. All channels need to produce audio for SoundID to complete the calibration.

Also, Dolby Atmos renders audio for the speakers you have, rather than the previous surround standards that provided individual audio tracks for particular speaker positions.

Could we have a way to calibrate the speaker setup one wishes to use, rather than one of a set list of predetermined layouts…. Or just a bunch more unusual speaker configurations like 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 4.1 etc etc.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your post and for this feedback! At the moment, you are correct that you cannot select a setup layout that is not one of the predefined ones in the list. I have taken note of this request for our product team to look into further. Thanks for sharing!

Same here. I have a 7.0 and a 7.0.4 set up with no sub whatsoever.  You have a 5.0 layout already.  It shouldn't really be a problem for you.

Same here, I prefer working without a sub and was kind of amazed that this (7.0.4) cannot be configured?! I'll see if it's possible to trick the system with a temporary speaker…

To anyone reading this, a perfectly doable workaround is to set up any speaker acting as a temporary LFE channel (I used a guitar amp) during the configuration process. Then just disregard the LFE results.
