Share Sound ID Listen profile & hearing test with Sound ID Reference

Sound ID Listen is currently in Beta. Since I can't get Sound ID Reference on my phone, this is the next best thing. But two features it has that Reference does not, is a hearing test to help adjust the EQ for hearing deficiencies, and a Custom EQ wizard that helps to tune the music to how you prefer to hear. THIS IS HUGE!!!

Sound ID Listen is free (since it's currently in Beta). Why can't I get these features in the Reference software that I paid money for?

Also how cool would it be if you could have the same Listening Profile shared across BOTH platforms.
ex. If I take the hearing test or make a custom EQ on my smartphone, it saves it somewhere I can access it and download/share it, and then upload it as a custom EQ profile to Reference ID.

Trying to duplicate the same EQ in Reference manually is such a huge, and time-consuming pain. Who else would love to have Reference ID be able to tune to your ears like Sound ID Listen does?

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your feedback, it's really appreciated!

I want to note that the hearing test available in our SoundID mobile app is not designed for reliable accuracy when talking about a more professional production use-case scenario. The hearing test in the SoundID app is there to help suggest the sound that you might enjoy listening to based on the results. However, in order for the hearing test to be implemented into SoundID Reference, it would definitely have to have a higher level of accuracy as well.

We have received feature requests similar to yours from other users as well, including some synchronization ability between SoundID and SoundID Reference. While we don't have more specifics or any ETAs available regarding such features at this time, I have taken note of your feedback and passed it along to our team for further consideration. Thank you for sharing!

I agree with Daniel on the desirability of this functionality within SoundID Reference. How cool it would be indeed!  In fact, I would go so far as to say that without this functionality i.e. taking into full consideration the hearing of the end-user, the product falls short of its promise.  What other company has the potential to provide a full end-to-end solution for 'accuracy in sound'?  From the standpoint of getting an accurate hearing test, it seems to me that as long as an end-user is using a set of headphones for which a profile exists, it should not be so hard to very accurately measure hearing since you have, under your control, the sound levels generated for a specific headphone.  I would assume that when you do produce such a hearing test that it will also so more than test for hearing at a limited number of frequencies in the way that a typical hearing test would.  Since your end-users are serious about sound quality and calibration it would make sense to have a test that takes longer to perform but that includes, for example, hearing analysis for frequencies from 30 Hz to 20 kHz.  I know that I would gladly spend as long as it takes for such a test in order to get the ultimate calibration profile when considering hearing-related deficiencies.

I tried out the SoundID Listen beta and, while promising, it's currently full of bugs. As a software developer, I completely understand what Beta means and am sympathetic to the effort.  I would love to see SoundID Listen succeed and, more, to see that functionality be added to SoundID Reference for which I have a license.  Is there a formal bug reporting system for SoundID Listen?  I'm happy to give feedback/report bugs but only if it's going to be productive of getting fixes/updates.  One more thing: SoundID Reference and SoundID Listen apparently are both configured to start up when my Mac starts up and this is pretty annoying.  I would suggest that the installer for SoundID Listen takes into account whether or not SoundID Reference is installed and if it is, do not start up SoundID Listen on system startup.

Summary: I love your products and would love to be involved in refining them in a collaborative way.  Feel free to contact me directly on this topic.

Hello,

The hearing test that is done inside the Sound ID Personal (Listen) would be really --REALLY-- important to have it as part of a choice in the the profile in the Sound ID Reference for PC or as a Plugin in DAW.

There are plenty of people who struggle with hearing problems and a hearing test to customize your preference would help out mixing/mastering with headphones from top to bottom.

Even almost 1.5 years later after its ininitial release Sound ID Personal (Listen) profile created with hearing test is still only accesible with phones and not inside a DAW or PC. This is sad to me since I still cannot get my proper ears to deliver good mixes through the Sound ID reference plugin (with my Bose II headphones)

Anything of this sort of update is cooking up there in Sonarworks for future?

Thank you kindly

Lucian

I back the other people saying this is an important thing.
