I have three sets of speakers I use for mixing and three pairs of headphones. As I was making profiles I noticed that measuring the speakers and measuring the headphones are separate processes, but because they are bunched together in one setup I'm doing a lot of double measurements.
This process would be more efficient if you divided it into three phases:
- Measure speakers with binaural microphone and save speaker profile
- Measure headphones with binaural microphone and save headphone profile
- Make any combination of speaker and headphone and save it as VM profile.
In a situation where a user has three pairs of speakers and three pairs of headphones has to do only six measurements instead of nine.
What's even cooler: imagine you made a speaker profile in an amazing studio; a once in a lifetime opportunity. Years later you buy a new set of headphones. All you have to do is measure them and apply the headphone profile to the amazing speaker profile.
