Hi Sonarworks team,
Requesting a calibration profile for the **beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO MKII** (velour and pleather earpads).
Some context on why this one matters:
The MKII is not a minor revision of the DT 1770 PRO. It uses an entirely new TESLA.45 driver, a PEEK diaphragm, and dropped from 250 ohm to 30 ohm. Independent measurements (DIY-Audio-Heaven) show the two generations differ by roughly 4-5 dB across 30-70 Hz and 4-8 kHz, and by considerably more above 10 kHz where the MKII extends much further.
As a result, loading the original DT 1770 Pro profile produces an audible artifact: the profile applies a deep notch around 8-9 kHz to tame the MkI's peak, but the MKII's peak sits elsewhere, so the correction lands in the wrong place and hollows out the treble. Sound On Sound noted the same thing in their MKII review — the MkI profiles "are not a great fit."
The DT 1990 PRO MKII profile was released in January 2026, and users have been asking for its closed-back sibling in that same thread since March 2025 with no response. This isn't an exotic model — it's beyerdynamic's flagship closed-back studio headphone, and there's currently no supported closed-back option at this tier.
I'm a permanent license holder and I bought the MKII specifically to use with SoundID Reference.
Happy to help however I can. Thanks for considering it.
