SoundID Reference Plugin crashes in Ableton Live 12.4.3

The latest version of the plugin (5.13.7) crashes in Live 12.4.3 on Windows 11 when opening the UI. It works as long as the UI stays closed, but Live crashes as soon as we open the plugin UI.

I have the exact same issue and couldn't fix it with hours of setup changes, reinstalls and restarts.

Same here. As above.

Same in windows 10, I notice in the crash logs for ableton that it is running out of memory when the UI is opened and throws an exception, seems like a memory leak. Rolling back ableton and the plugin to various versions unfortunately did not fix anything.

My Ableton logs throw an out of memory exception too, even though my system isn’t even close to running out of Memory. My guess is that something’s wrong with the graphics memory allocation? Ableton keeps passing audio until I dismiss the message and thus close Ableton.
I’m on AMD Radeon 780M onboard graphics, changing the Hardware Acceleration setting in Ableton doesn’t change the behaviour.

I will try to force my laptop to use the secondary RTX3050 Mobile and see if that does anything :/

Oh an the Issue seems to be exclusive to Ableton, SoundID runs just fine when I host it from Fairlight in Davinci Resolve

I have updated the AMD Radeon Driver and my Laptop's Soundcard driver, that didn't immediately solve the issue, but now suddenly everything works fine after rebooting and trying a bunch. The Ableton Logs don't show any anomalities anymore aswell, RAM usage has actually decreased by 300MB in an empty Session. I have deleted some weird Dolby Atmos APO (Lenovo junk) though, maybe that changed something.

Build versions have not changed and I didn't change any settings in Ableton or SoundID

The plugin is now inexplicably working for me as well after starting my system fresh the next day.

Likewise, the plugin is working fine today without issue. Must the tech goblins??? Go figure !!

It works again for me too. A couple hours ago it was still crashing, and now it's all good. Complete mystery :)

Hi everyone,

Just to clarify: this was indeed reported yesterday - around a dozen users got in touch about it. Mainly Ableton was affected, but one case was reported with Digital Performer too (all Win only).

The cause was quickly pinned down: it came from the "Update available" notification in the plugin and turned out to be a backend/server issue, which our dev team resolved within hours. Since the fix was entirely server-side (no plugin update or other steps needed on your end), we decided that a public statement/article is not needed, as it would probably just confuse users looking for other Ableton-related answers.

Glad it's all working again!
