Can someone help me understand a microphone calibration file?

Sorry for newbie question. 
I asked ChatGPT about this, but I'd like to get confirmation from people who know this stuff.

I'm using a Sonarworks measurement microphone in my DAW, and I'm planning to calibrate it using an EQ. Is the microphone's calibration file essentially a guide for how to set the EQ, or does it simply show how much the microphone deviates from the reference response? In other words, should I apply the calibration file as an inverted EQ curve?
