did you perhaps change the headroom of the app or something? When I deactivate the App content gets about 25dB louder - even though the headroom I set in the app is about 4dB.

Oops, I found my mistake! In my Macs Audio Midi Setup the SoundID Reference virtual soundcard output volume was for whatever reason decreased by 20dB.
