Im surprised all the feature requests and community posts got deleted... why would you guys do that? Seems like someone has been making some terrible decisions lately...
Well moving on to the issues I have found after upgrading from Reference 4:
- Old Reference 4 presets don’t translate and have to build them from scratch.
- Midi mapping is broken and crashes.
- You can no longer midi map functions like the basic enabling and disabling calibration.
- Utilizing the same headphone profile on 2 different output devices causes problems.
- I can no longer run Reference 4 to compare.
- It will randomly lower the current presets output volume when starting up or switching between presets.
- The duplicating function for presets does nothing at all.
- The target curve duplicate button only creates a new target curve, not a duplicate.
- Presets don’t carry over from Systemwide to plugin.
- Plugin doesn’t show Listening position is enabled when it is.
- Systemwide is not even close to near zero latency, even when bypassed it still produces quite a delay.
- They released an update today but none of the issues I mention got fixed and I think this might be me, but i believe 5.0.0.406 (the launch version) sounds better than 5.0.0.409
- Some typos in menus (I know, incredible). It doesn’t spell "battery consumption" correctly in settings for example.
Was this release even tested at all?
Side note: Even with the upgrade discount you guys released today the price is way too steep for a re-skin of the same software with two added features (one that you already had a while ago and then took away).
One dissatisfied customer,
R

Still no update, no fixes.... nada...
Hi Peter,
Sorry to hear you're also getting stuck with issues! My colleague Artjoms sent an extensive reply to your support request but we never heard back from you. Can you please check your email for that response and try the suggested solutions and provide the requested info?
A huge chunk of these issues was already fixed with our 5.0.1 update, however, I should mention that we have just gone through a massive software code refactoring project, see details in our release notes) so we're expecting most of these issues to be gone (v5.0.2 is already available in Beta, should be fully released within a week or so - see Beta install instructions here). The core stability of the software should be massively improved with the coming update release!
So, I tried the beta and 85% of the issues are still present and some are even worse. I’ve decided to go back to Reference 4. Here’s an addendum to the list of issues with some new ones 🤦🏻♂️ Midi mapping completely disappeared, the audio degradation happens faster now and there’s a new fade in effect after switching presets that kills all objectivity…
- [x] It will randomly lower the current presets output volume when starting up or switching between presets, (I mean the actual output volume slider of the preset inside sound id reference).
- [x] The target curve duplicate button only creates a new target curve, not a duplicate…
- [x] Systemwide’s audio starts to degrade after some minutes streaming video from popular sites (Netflix, Youtube, etc.) or sometimes even from iTunes playback.
- [ ] Privacy concerns regarding the plugin trying to connect to Sonarworks servers every time the plugin is opened.
- [x] Systemwide will randomly change the output channels on the selected output device on load.
Cheers
I absolutely agree. SoundID Reference only worked for me perfectly for about a month, after that using it has been a nightmare. The SoundID Reference app slows down my mac so bad that even basic tasks like opening Finder takes 10 seconds.
Hi Rodrigo & Akshay,
Thank you for commenting, and our apologies for the belated attendance to this post!
So sorry to hear that you were encountering some troubles with the software! I see that our support team has been able to assist in your submitted support tickets. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to our team and reporting these bugs, it helps us improve the product. We are continuously working on making the software better, so your feedback is certainly appreciated.
Hi Zane, that’s not quite true, there’s some issues that still persist on the latest version. (although good strides have been made towards the right direction):
- [ ] Privacy concerns regarding the plugin trying to connect to Sonarworks servers every time the plugin is opened.
- [ ] Systemwide is not even close to near zero latency. Even when bypassed, it still produces quite a delay. Tracking with it is impossible (even when disabled)(I’m on a fully loaded Retina iMac).
- [ ] Presets don’t carry over from Systemwide to plugin.
- [ ] Occasionally on computer startup, Sound ID will have no sound going through it for some reason. After quitting the program It won’t start up again. Force quitting its process in activity monitor is the only way to restart it. After that all is well.
- [ ] Some weird issues happen with the preset volume slider when switching between presets with midi. It’s as if it doesn’t remember the next preset’s volume slider position and changes it randomly. Changing between presets with the mouse works as expected.
- [ ] Constant crashes, one of the times it crashed it deleted all my settings inside Systemwide. (Had to re configure all my midi mappings, presets, custom target curves, etc)
- [ ] Duplicating a custom target curve does nothing to retain its settings.
Cheers,
R
Hi Rodrigo,
Thanks for your comment!
Certainly, I am happy to address the issues you have mentioned in your comment here as well:
27 de julio y el midi sigue roto no puedo utilizar mi controlador por que soundid reference bloquea midi si desenchufo se cierra y siempre es lo mismo lastima por que es una excelente herramienta, lo mejor es que no lo compre solo use la version demo. pero si lo arreglan estoy dispuesto a comprarlo saludos
