Dear Sonarworks Support,
I’m writing to report a long-standing issue that still hasn’t been resolved and is seriously affecting my workflow.
System configuration:
- Mac Mini M4 Pro (Apple Silicon)
- Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen
- Cubase 14 (latest version)
- SoundID Reference (latest version)
The problem occurs when changing the sample rate of a Cubase project — for example, switching from 48 kHz to 44.1 kHz (or vice versa). Cubase freezes during project loading if SoundID is inserted as a plugin. This issue was already reported over a year ago and still persists in the latest version.
On Windows 11, the workaround was to use the VST2 version of the plugin. However, on macOS, there is no VST2, and the only workaround seems to be running Cubase entirely in Rosetta mode, which is completely unreasonable for just one plugin — especially on an Apple Silicon machine.
Frankly, it’s baffling that this bug is still not resolved after such a long time, and that there is still no proper solution for native Apple Silicon users. Please let me know if there’s any progress or at least a timeline for fixing this issue. It’s making it extremely difficult to use SoundID in professional projects.
Best regards,
Ivan

Ivan Sofic thanks for posting!
This issue has already been discussed in several community posts and in a support article here: Cubase freeze with the VST3 plugin
We're happy to share that a permanent fix for the issue has been released in the latest v5.12.2.17 Beta update (it will be released in a full update in a couple of weeks).
