Just a footnote. I have the permanent version. If one accidentally clicks on the “token/permanent” selector button and kicks it into “token mode”, and you of course have 0 tokens, it will open up a screen that tells you need to buy more tokens. This is of course confusing and a little frustrating until you see that token mode was actually turned on.
Why they designed it this way is a mystery to me…. really, I'd love to see the token button taken out of the permanent version. Can't see a reason for it unless some kind of add-on pay as you go features are planned.

No, tokens are needed for the Pay-as-you-go mode only (online processing). If you have purchased a Perpetual license, tokens are not needed.
