Hey all !!!
This is my first post here. I've been using SoundID speaker calibration for some time but there has always been this one doubt:
During the calibration test, as I move around the different calibration spots, should the ref mic always be oriented perpendicular to my computer screen or should I always point it to the center of the screen.
I don't even know if there is a difference in the result but I would surely like to know the correct procedure.
Thanks in advance !!!
Cheers !

Gaspar, about the mic orientation. When I first attempted to calibrate a 2.1 system (Mulit-channel by SoundWorks definition), the calibration program showed a mic being handheld even though the first set of measurements asked that the mic be on a tripod and be pointed straight upwards. I initially used the straight up position for the initial measurements (distance to speaker mostly), but then switched to a microphone pointed straight ahead but on a stand so it was at ear height for the 37 different room response measurements.
I had some problems getting through the calibration the first time and thought the results were an improvement, but not a revelation. Thenl SoundWorks released a new update and as promised to me, clarified what the physical set up of the mic should be for multi-channel. The mic should be pointed straight up and down for all measurements (at least that's how I interpreted the UI instructions). Therefore the issue of pointed straight ahead vs pointed to the screen now becomes moot. Just set it up pointed straight up with the microphones screen at ear level (or about an 1-½" below your eye level for most people)
If I'm wrong, I will try a 3rd calibration, but I love the results of the second try as I've described.
PS this community forum does not receive much support from either the community or SoundWorks.

For stereo calibration, always point the mic to the center point between the two speakers, as indicated by the on-screen visual instructions. Multichannel is different, the mic will always be pointed upwards (this will also be indicated in Measure visually).
To clarify, Stereo and Multichannel are two different measurement flows, and Measure will show the respective visual instructions depending on the selected channel layout.
Fred Mant Kārlis Stenders Thanks a lot to both of you ! The issue now is clear. I use a stereo system in my studio so I should always point the mic to the center point between my speakers :)
Cheers !!!
