APO server is not running

When I open the standalone app, an error message box appears, saying “APO server is not running”. And I can do nothing to close this error message - clicking “Dismiss”, “Support center”, or closing and re-opening the app does not work, the error message box stays. Even killing all processes and restarting the app does not work, the error message box appears again. This is very annoying, and before the last update, this behaviour was not there.

Is there anything I can do but re-installing the app? Is this a known bug that is fixed with the next update?

I had this too, and I found the way out of it.

From the Taskbar system tray, find the SoundID Reference icon (mine is in the “hidden icons” pull-up menu).  Right-click on the SoundID Refernece icon, and in the menu that appears, you should be able to choose an alternate Output Device which clears the frozen state of the app.
