Set-up issues on iMac

I'm a new user with what I'm sure is a very basic issue, for which apologies in advance.

I use the Swinsian music player on an iMac (Ventura 13.6.7) going via Omni soundcard, Schiit Modi 3 DAC and an Emotiva BasX amp to Audeze LCD-2 headphones.

I've installed the app, set up my Output presets, and successfully played the Test Signal ("Left, Right…"). I can play music just as before. So far, so good.

The problem is, nothing I try on the app makes any difference to the sound. It sounds the same whether Calibration is enabled or not, same for Virtual Monitoring. I'd put this down to my hearing, but then the volume control at the far right of the SoundID panel also has no effect, and I assume it should.

It just seems odd to me that the test signal plays fine, but nothing else on the app is working for me. I'm sure there's something simple I missed in the set-up process, so if anyone has suggestions, I'd be grateful.

Let me know if there are other details needed to help diagnose. Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

Please see if you have the following checked:

  • Within SoundID Reference the correct output device has been selected. When you hear the test tone, this does confirm that it is the correct one
  • Under System > Sound settings the SoundID Reference virtual device has been selected as the default out and is unmuted (there is a small mute checkbox that might have been clicked by accident)
  • Make sure all other applications that are utilizing the sound chain are completely turned off - any routing software, audio interface controls etc.
  • For the particular music player, there could be independent sound settings that might require for SoundID Reference virtual device to be selected.

If all of the above does not help, please collect the log files and create a support request. We'll be happy to help!

Thank you for getting back to me. I am away for a couple of days, but will investigate and report back upon my return.

Turns out it was not selected as the default out (point #2).

Thanks for your help.
