1073 Preamp for Room Analysis

Just bought a Sonarworks microphone to do room analysis and calibration.  I will be using my Neve 1073DPX as the preamp.  I’ll bypass all the filtering of the preamp and was wondering if the transformer circuits in the preamp will alter/ruin the analysis?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

The preamp should have no severe impact if it has no filtering applied and the signal is raw.

My suggestion would be to simply proceed with the measurement and if it is not successful or the calibration sounds off, then try using a simple audio interface for the measurement and then use the profiles of that measurement.

You can test this by creating two mixes/masters with SoundID Reference enabled and disabled to compare which sounds best. Please note that the plugin must be bypassed upon bouncing the project.

I hope this helps!
