My SoundID Reference app stopped working today. The plugin works fine in my DAW, it's just the app that doesn't seem to have any signal flowing into it. It's configured as my output device, I can play the test signals left and right, but it doesn't detect what's coming into it from any other programme in my computer be it streaming, browser or DAW. As soon as I change my output device to my interface, everything works.
I have restarted my computer 3 times and nothing has changed. I've redownloaded the app and nothing has changed. I re-did the setup on the app and when I started the restarted the payback engine which restarts core audio and nothing has changed
Can anyone advise?

Having a similar issue but it hasn't worked since the initial install. Audio does not seem to route through the app, and therefore it has no effect. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I'm using Windows 10
Hi willburtonmusic, thanks for your post, sorry to hear about this!
Can you let us know if you are on a Mac or Windows machine? If you're on Mac, when this issue occurs, is SoundID Reference present in the Mac Sound settings/Audio MIDI setup?
Just in case, it might be worth checking out our support guides on no sound/no calibration applied for some basic troubleshooting to rule out some of the more common triggers, see below:
Sam Co - sorry to hear about this as well. Can you let us know what driver type you have your audio device set up with in the standalone app? There are four driver types on Windows: Audio driver types in SoundID Reference app [WIN].
Could you also please check the troubleshooting guide for common no sound/no calibration issues here: No sound / no calibration effect [WIN]?
Let me know how this goes!
willburtonmusic you are most likely getting stuck with the missing driver issue on macOS, as described here: [SoundID Reference missing from Mac sound output [MAC] - issue resolved, article removed]
The fix for this is available in the new 5.9.1.2 Beta release. Could you please install it and let us know whether the issue is resolved? See how to install here: SoundID Reference Beta software releases.
issued resolved earlier. thank you
Hi Karlis, I managed to fix it! The error had nothing to do with ID reference, somehow my computer had muted the audio send to the ID reference software, I unmuted it and everything has been working smoothly since!
willburtonmusic I'm happy to hear that, thanks for letting us know!
Yes, this can happen by accident - hitting the Mute key on your Mac keyboard. Since macOS configures and recalls this setting for each output device separately, it can take a while to detect the problem. We have it noted in this article too, just in case: No sound / no calibration effect [MAC].
