Sound Id not Recognized in Mac

Hi, recently I updated Sound Id and had a problem with it. I'm working with the external headphones output of my Macbook Pro M2 (Ventura), and when starting the computer I cannot use Sound Id because it's not recognized by the computer. I mean it doesn't appear in the sound settings.

I haven't had this kind of problem when connected to an interface (apollo twin and SSL 2) but this problem is constantly using the headphone output.

Please help since I need to use systemwide application to mix in dolby atmos binaural.

Thank You

Hi all,

Thank you for your patience and feedback regarding this issue! A couple of updates from our side:

  • We have updated the [Missing driver after updating to 5.7.3 [MAC] - article removed] support article with an additional quicker workaround: force-quit and relaunch the SoundID Reference driver. Please try this out if you are still experiencing the issue with the missing driver after the update and let us know whether this helped.
  • HAL logging instructions to gather more information for further investigation.
  • The previous version 5.7.2. - it is now available within the Online installer. For instructions on how to revert, see our guide here: Current software issues - how to revert back to a previous version.

We'll make sure to update here in the post as we progress with the fix.

The Force Quit workaround worked for me. fixed both system-wide and the AAX bug.   thank you so much!!

Struggled with this for a long time and it really interfered with my work schedule, but I finally got everything set up again. It took multiple de/re-installs. I followed the guide from Zane (Sept 7, 2023) in this thread to a T. I recommend saving a backup of your profile and following that list step-by-step. Good luck!

Hi all,

Thank you for your patience while we were investigating and working on a fix for the SoundID Reference missing from sound settings on the macOS problem (this issue appeared with the 5.7.3. update).

We have released a new beta version 5.9.1.2 which includes a fix for the missing driver issue. If you are experiencing this issue, we would appreciate it if you could try out this beta and let us know whether the issue is fixed on your machines.

Update: the issue is resolved with the full 5.9.1 update release, download here. Let us know whether the issue is fixed with the update. Thank you very much in advance, we appreciate it!

John Kaefer and Ricardo Bigai  - thanks for the update from your side regarding the beta, we appreciate it, glad to hear it is working! It would be great if you could keep an eye on it just in case, but I hope it will continue working well :)

So has this been permanently fixed in the latest version? I've downloaded the latest version today, June 5th '24 (5.11.0 Build 20 #e812b28), for a trial and it's not outputting to Mac M2 external headphones.

Have you tried checking that in your Audio Midi Setup, SoundID is not set to “Mute”? This is often what is blocking my audio chain. There is a help thread here somewhere for this. Good luck!

I still have this problem on every Mac newer than Monterey :( I've already done all the recommended steps, I've done clean installs twice, including Sonoma, Ventura, and Sequoia. It's only OK on Monterey. Imac 2019 internal sound.   When enabled, Sound ID almost immediately blocks system sound. It only works with the external Apogge interface.
