MIDI mapping in SoundID Reference

The MIDI mapping feature for the SoundID Reference standalone app and DAW plugin lets you control the software via an external MIDI device.

Available MIDI parameters

The following SoundID Reference parameters can be controlled via MIDI:

SoundID Reference standalone app

• Gain
• Dry/Wet
• Calibration state (on/off)
• Mono state (on/off)
• Mute state (on/off)
• L/R channel swap (on/off)
• Preset selection

SoundID Reference DAW plugin

• Gain
• Dry/Wet
• Calibration state (on/off)
• Mono state (on/off)
• Mute state (on/off)
• Safe headroom (on/off)
• L/R channel swap (on/off)
• Next preset 
• Previous preset 

Note: Depending on the DAW or plugin format in use, limitations may apply. For example, with the AU plugin format, the previous and next midi assigning options are not available. Use VST3 instead. 

MIDI mapping in standalone app

1. Select the feature for MIDI mapping:
   • Right-click on the feature to be controlled
   • Navigate to the needed preset in the Output panel >  "…" (menu)
2. Click on Map MIDI.
3. Press the button, slider, or knob on your MIDI device.
4. Press Save.

Resetting MIDI mapping

You can reset all previously configured mapping by going to SoundID Reference app Preferences and scrolling down to MIDI. To erase all MIDI mappings, click on the "Erase all MIDI mappings" button.

MIDI mapping in DAW plugin

In order to use the feature, you must first route a MIDI signal from your controller to the SoundID Reference plugin in your DAW. The instructions to set this up will vary depending on the DAW so, if your DAW is not mentioned below, please refer to your DAW's manual or online help center for instructions on how to MIDI map third-party plugins. 

Logic Pro

1. Press COMMAND + L to open the Controller Assignments window.
2. Select Expert View from the top-left of the window.
3. Click Learn Mode from the bottom-right corner to start assigning MIDI controls.
4. Select the parameter you want to control in the SoundID Reference plugin.
5. Press the button, slider, or knob on your MIDI device.
6. Once successfully mapped, the status will show Learned.

Reaper

1. In the plugin, click on param.
2. Go to FX parameter list > Learn.
3. Select the parameter you wish to control.
4. In the pop-up window MIDI/OSC Learn, select your choice.
5. Move/press the midi control button to assign and press OK.

Ableton Live

1. Press the open arrow and click Configure.
2. In configure mode, click the parameters you want to control.
3. Click Configure to exit this mode.
4. Enter Midi mapping mode (ctrl+M / ⌘+M) to assign knobs.
5. Select the function you want to map, e.g. calibration toggle.
6. Move a knob or slider on your controller.
