    Hi Clarence,

SE-215 are actually supported in True-Fi and SoundID along with a bunch of other in-ear models too. For audio engineering, Reference 4 is used to remove coloration from your speakers and headphones to ensure you're monitoring accurately. We need to provide not only a flat frequency response but also consistent monitoring room to room and ear to ear.

As in-ears differ in physical shape, sealing, and the way users position them in the ear canal; the translation of a flat frequency response on other playback devices cannot be guaranteed. General playback is not affected though, which is why the profiles are found in True-Fi and SoundID, where the position of the product is music consumption rather than music creation.

That explains that... Was just looking for a calibration for these as well - though I was already questioning the value of calibration on devices like these. Either way, no big deal for me; I just use them for the cello (was having trouble keeping the DT 770 cans away from the tuning pegs), and I tend to use wonky "clarity" EQ settings for that anyway.

    Hi everyone,

We have released the SE-215 profile along with 147 other new profiles (mostly earbuds and in-ears) in SoundID Reference! The new profiles are marked with a For listening label, to make the distinction between these and regular profiles (for the same reasons described above).

Learn more in this article: 'For listening' - new headphone profiles in SoundID Reference
