In my first week of using Ref 4, I can definitely see a great use for this product, but am somewhat baffled and frustrated as to the amount of correction features that are left out or as SW has been saying, "in the plans, but not for awhile." for the last 18 months- 2 years now. I've been digging through the forum and seeing so many requests that I totally agree with and for whatever reason SW seems to use the excuse of "being focused on new products" instead of making the existing one that could be such a powerful tool, better. Guys, no offense, you have 2 products...
My main focus, being in Post, would be multichannel support. It blows my mind that this isn't on the top of the To Do list with the way Multichannel and Immersive audio is moving forward. I personally have a small mix room at home and the 2 channel version helps immensely on music projects until I can more properly treat my room, but not having that correction in 5.1 does me no good.
I'm also a studio technician and installer so I know my way around various room correction hardware and software and I can't tell SW how great this product could be for integrators to sell or use as an affordable tuning tool if it could handle multichannel and have a deeper level of customizable EQ. For SW to say that multichannel (or MONO) is so hard to implement, I say, how come so many other companies are doing it with ease? For now, I have to try and push my clients to the JBL Intonato, or the Trinnov, or external DSP, which obviously costs many thousands of $$. But not to put down SW, from what I've seen, the measurements are extremely accurate, down to getting the distance of my speakers correct almost to the half inch, and this is ON PAR with what I've demo'd with Trinnov. So, I know you guys are on the right track for a much more affordable price.
I won't get into all the specfics of correction features I think should be added, actually an older post really nailed alot of what I agree with...
This software definitely needs an SPL meter built in as well.
A few of the other minor feature thoughts I agree with...
Option to hide the systemwide window on computer startup, very annoying and useless to see.
STOP Systemwide from taking over Mac Alert sounds. I have them set to internal so all the dings and beeps don't blast out my speakers and have to change them every day, which I'll probably just give up on doing soon. I saw another user have the same complaint.
Anywho, that's my soapbox moment. Again, not to put down SW at all, I think you have a great product here, but a great product that is not far from being an amazing tool for pro users if you listen to your users about what they really need.
