    Hi David,

Thanks for sharing, we've received many inquiries about this and we totally understand the frustration!

In fact we are working on this already and you will see all of that addressed with the next major update in 2019. The current 4.1.9.1 version will be the final build until 4.2 next year, although there might be some small bug-fixed versions in between.

4.2 will feature a new rebuilt Systemwide. We're not yet at liberty do disclose all the new features, but you can be sure that your concerns will be addressed directly and a lot of new improved automation will be in place, especially regarding the output and profile selection!

    Many thanks!

    Hi Karlis,

I have 4.2 installed, seems the outputs are handled much better, but are the profiles switching?  It seems even when the outputs are changing the profiles are remaining the same.

Did the "automated profile switching" functionality make it into the new build?

    Hi David,

No, I'm afraid it didn't make it, but there have been other improvements. The major Systemwide update I mentioned is still being worked on, in fact it will take a lot longer than we anticipated. We're aiming at a release later but there is no exact time frame I can provide.

This will be a complete rebuild of Systemwide changing that software module fundamentally. A completely new look and functionality. Lots of great new features to look forward to, not least significantly improved automation.

Thank you for your patience, this one will definitely be worth the wait :))

i think this is a must have. i have also the problem that i have a pair aktive speakers and one pair passive speakers in my studio. it is ok to click one time but first i must change the output and than select the profile.

it is easy to implement in a software. you must only allow to add favorites (output + profile). and if you implement this please show directl the selected one on the mac version in the top menu bar. this helps a lot and solve problems

Well we now have a rebranded and (UI-)refurbished SoundID reference but still missing this essential feature ...
Do we need to patiently wait another 3 years to get this feature or even more?

    Hi everyone!

We have indeed added this functionality - it is called User Presets, and it is available in Reference 4 too (starting from version 4.3); it has been improved for SoundID Reference.

User Presets allows combining your preferred output device, the specific channels, the calibration profile, as well as all DSP settings associated (Wet/Dry, Target mode, Driver type, etc.) - all into a single preset. You can create as many preset as you like, for any possible output + profile + settings combo. You can then switch between them simply by clicking on the desired preset. Recently used presets are also available from the tray icon dropdown (for both Win and Mac) to access the desired preset quickly. The functionality is described in these articles (for Reference 4 and SoundID Reference respectively):

We do have some ideas for improving the output panel for even better functionality, but it would be great to hear your feedback on it, to see if something is still left missing from this functionality - maybe there are some solid ideas for more improvements!

Also, another efficient layer for the user presets is MIDI control, which we have also implemented in both Reference 4 and SoundID Reference. You can assign the buttons on your MIDI device to switch to the desired preset even quicker, see here:

It would be great to hear your feedback on this, many thanks!
