Many people are asking for hardware (including myself), because the majority of the pro studio users are using an external speaker controller/switcher, are switching between multiple speakers and want separate processing between the speaker controller and the different pairs of speakers.
SO... what if... SW makes an 8 to 16 channel standalone software version that can see inputs and outputs of any audio interface and the user can use whatever they want to send the multiple channels from the speaker controller back into the same computer (or a dedicated computer), process the signals in the multichannel version of SW and then send the signal back out of the same audio interface (or different) and continue on to the speakers!!! This could be a temporary fix to give the hardware people what they want without SW needing to immediately come up with a hardware version!
In my case, I would send 8 channels (4 pairs) from my Grace M905, into a Apogee Rosetta 800 w/ firewire card, into a dedicated Mac mini with the multichannel SW and then back out of the Rosetta 800 and out to the 4 pairs of speakers (one of the sets being stereo subs!! So, maybe some Bass Management, as well.
Please bring this to fruition, cause I'm getting ready to jump to the MiniDSP DDRC-88A. I can't deal with having to switch to the different profiles every time I want to listen to different speakers, as well as having to bypass the plugin every time I want to bounce a song I'm working on in Pro Tools.
