Recording Instruments With Calibration

Hello,

I recently bought reference 4 and its awesome. There's one thing I have been wondering how to overcome. The software works fine on my DAW and fine on my computer, however where it doesnt work is audio coming into my interface from say a synth, drum machine or microphone.

I have all my synths coming into my analog mixing desk, then the outputs of the desk going into the first inputs 3-10 on my MOTU 828es soundcard. The first two inputs on the MOTU are taken up by microphones as they are proper mic inputs.Whenever I am jamming on my synths, drum machines etc. the sound I am hearing whilst recording into Ableton is the sound of the room. After recording, playback is then with the calibration.

Is there something I havent set up correct here? It would be super useful to hear all recordings as the calibration.

Hey Jack,

It sounds like you have set it up correctly! However, Reference 4 cannot directly apply calibration to live input. Systemwide would work exclusively as a virtual output device and the inputs cannot be routed through it without using third-party software.

You can attempt to use the plug-in for this purpose while employing your DAW for the monitoring signal.
