Changing the limit controls does indeed effect the bottom and high end a lot. I am wondering of there is a general recommendation as to “extended”/Neutral”/ or aggressive”? I would think extended would be best for mixing as it shows the full range. What is sonar works advice?

The Limit Controls settings are highly dependent on the speakers you're using. I would start with 12dB for the correction setting and 'extended' for both low and high limits, then go from there. In most cases limit controls are a lot of help with smaller speakers, for example trying aggressively correct for a lack of bass, resulting in an unreasonable loss of volume to avoid clipping. In a case like this for example it's good to have the option to limit that bass correction, to keep a healthy volume to work with.
