I am using a traditional analog mixing desk, a 24 channel Trident 78 hooked up to Logic with 2 x UA Apollo interfaces to get audio in and out of the desk.
My issue is that I must use the Apollo's as the input and output device within logic. This sends the audio to the individual mixing desk channels. So on a logic track I select Apollo output 2 or 7 or 12 or whatever and the audio appears on the mixing desk channels 2, 7, 12 etc.
Audio goes out from the desk to the monitors - there is no way to insert Ref on the analog desks analog outputs.
With this set up it seems the only way I can get ref 4 to work is if I insert ref 4 as a plugin on each individual audio channel of logic i.e. 2, 7, 12 etc.
When using the analog mixing desk within logic I have to set channel output to the multiple outputs of the UA Apollo's which feed the multiple channels of my Trident analog desk.
There is not just one stereo out - otherwise I lose the analog EQ and ability to send to external hardware compressors etc.
System wide doesn't work for this as it only works on the computer audio from youtube etc.
Is there a problem if I end up with 32 plugin insert as the last plug on audio across my logic session?
If there a better way I'm missing?
I appreciate you're meant to insert one instance of ref 4 as the final insert on the master chain but I wonder if it causes an issues to use many instances of it as a final insert plugin on each channel?
