Roon is growing and seems to be pretty cool. The network audio implementation is top notch. BUT Roon does not support audio plug-ins such as VST. It has been requested numerous times on the Roon forums, but the Roon guys complain about it not working in the Roon eco-system, blah, blah.
I currently do not know of any method to use Roon with Sonarworks and Roon networked endpoints. Granted it does work via Roon -> Sonarworks Ref 4 Systemwide -> USB DAC.
Thus the opportunity is for:
i) Sonarkwokrs & Roon to figure out how to activate Sonarworks Reference 4 licenses in Roon. I think counting it as 1 of the Reference 4 plug-in licenses makes sense.
ii) Provide the Sonarworks HP calibration profiles to Roon in some format that they can implement in the Roon DSP engine.
iii) Have Roon implement some method to select which headphone profile and Reference 4 settings.
Alternatively, Roon & Sonarworks could work out an alliance where all Roon users get Sonarworks Ref 4 functionality within Roon in the cost of Roon and Sonarworks is compensated via some global agreement between Roon & Sonarworks.
Having Sonarworks in Roon I think would be great.
