SoundID Reference with Apollo´s

Hey,

I´m trying SoundID Reference with my UAD Apollo(s):
Apollo x16 > Monitor-Out > Geithain RL 906 Speaker
Apollo x4 > Microphone-In  and Headphones

a)
After setup and meassuring first I saw both in presets (x4 and x16).
After trying and deleting profiles/presets I only see the x16.

For Speaker-Test it´s ok and I can here the difference when I switch Flat/Dolby/Custom target after “Apply profile to Apollo X”.

What I don´t understand is: Under Preset Apollo x16 I see “Speakers” and with that I can work.

But there are 3 more entries “2.0 (Stereo) …" or "Sonarworks_Messung …" and so on. In these 3 more entries, I see no frequency curves on the right side, if on left side choosen. Also I cant delete them.

Why not?
How to delete them?

How to get the Apollo x4 again?

b)
Her you see the meassurement:

As you can see, both speakers have a bass-boost . But one more as the other.

I can appy my target curve to the Apollo X16, and yes, when I switch I can here the difference. Nice

What I see here is, that one speaker has less bass.

Can SoundiD-Reference manipulate the frequencies of each speaker separate?
If so, why I see here the difference from speaker L to R?

c)
What does SoundID Reference do at all?

Is it only EQing?

Or can it handle timing, delay and phase issues?

Thanks for help1

Kind regards
Jens

Sorry for my bad englisch

Hi Jens,

We have received and replied to your email inquiry. If any questions remain, let's pick it up there!

I am assuming you were able to measure using the Microphone inputs on the x4, and your speakers are on the x16?  How are you able to do that?  I have been beating my head in for 4 hours making this work and it simply won't work at all.

Is this on Mac or PC?

Hey studio,

In the apollo console preferences you have to choose x16 as first/main-device (A) and the x4 as second (B). In the Matrix you can see the channel in/out.

Then choose for monitor out:

A Mon L

A Mon R

And for the Mic, channel one (the left one at the backside)

B Line/Hz In 1

You have to use a Mic with phantom power and switch it on in the apollo.

Its on PC with Win11

Okay.  I am on Mac with an Apollo x16 and x8p.  Same configuration.  I even made an IO Preset and Session Preset with only the microphone and Mon L/R.  This does not work on Mac.  I get this:

Even though Sonarworks sees my microphone and my speakers are working in Mon L/R.  I have a bad feeling I must have my speakers on the same device or it does not see both.

I hate when Devs release software and don't test all available scenarios.  I am sure I am not the only one with 2 cascaded Apollos like this on Mac.

I put in a support ticket but if it indeed does not work then I will want my money back.  I won't change my workflow for this (which would mean more cables and running my speakers analog).

Okay.  I got some mogami xlr cables from a fellow producer and ran my speakers on the x16 through the monitor outputs.  I get the same error with the speakers run analog mon l/r.  It keeps saying no signal detected, even if I try other mic inputs.  I may have a pair of xlr to trs converter here so I can try running this through my apollo x8p only.  But I still cry foul. that would be a total mess.  In the Sonarworks it sees the x16 (which I would expect, but does not see the x8p since it only sees the primary device.  I have a bad feeling with rack mount apollos the mic and monitors need to be plugged into the same apollo.  I guess I have to wait for support.
