If you are experiencing an issue with the standalone app not launching on macOS computer startup, this guide offers more information on the problem and workarounds.
In this article:
Launch Agents misplacement
If SoundID Reference does not launch on computer startup, even though the Launch on startup setting is enabled in the SoundID Reference app > Preferences, it may be worth confirming the Launch Agents are placed correctly:
-
Open Finder and click on Go > Go to Folder...
- Enter the following location:
~/Library/Application Support/LaunchAgents
- Copy this file: com.sonarworks.soundid.reference.systemwide.plist
- Open Finder and click on Go > Go to Folder...
- Enter the following location:
~/Library/LaunchAgents
- Paste the .plist file in this location: click on Edit > Paste
- Restart your computer
NOTE! Login items in macOS System Preferences are not the same as the Launch on startup setting in the SoundID Reference app Preferences. These are two separate conditions for the application launch, therefore, when two are enabled, this may cause a problem with the application launch.
Login items preventing the launch
If you have previously created a Login item for the SoundID Reference standalone app, this may rule may prevent the application from launching. To resolve the issue, simply remove the SoundID Reference from the item list:
-
Open macOS System Settings > General > Login Items
-
Select SoundID Reference from the list
- Click on the "-" (Minus) button to remove SoundID Reference from the list
- Restart your computer
Stopping the SoundID Reference app process
If the issue persists and the app is still not launching from Applications after the app was removed from the Login Items, please launch the Activity Monitor app and check whether you have the SoundID Reference app process running there.
- Launch the Activity Monitor application (Spotlight > Activity Monitor)
- Locate the SoundID Reference process in the Process Name list
- Select the process and click on the ⮿ (Stop) button to stop the process
- Launch the SoundID Reference application
