Audio placement issue in Logic Pro and Pro tools

An issue has been reported with the SoundID VoiceAI plugin in Logic Pro: if there is a silence gap between the two audio clips across a single audio Capture, the processed audio for the second clip starts to play earlier than it should. The issue is related to how the DAW interacts with effects plugins where a silence gap is preset between clips (processing efficiency features in Logic Pro and Pro Tools).

The issue is currently under investigation. A direct fix is not available yet, but a workaround is possible via the Test Oscillator utility plugin in Logic Pro, and the Dynamic Plug-In Processing setting in Pro Tools. Follow the instructions below.

Solutions

Use the Test Oscillator plugin in Logic Pro

A workaround is possible via the Test Oscillator utility plugin in Logic Pro, which essentially disarms the CPU and processing efficiency feature in Logic Pro. The presence of the Test Oscillator on the Stereo Out channel resolves the problem even if turned OFF. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to plugin selection on the Stereo Out channel
  2. Select Plugins > Utilities > Test Oscillator
  3. Turn OFF the Test Oscillator plugin

Turn off the 'Dynamic Plug-In Processing' setting in Pro Tools

To resolve the issue in Pro Tools, the Dynamic Plug-In Processing setting must be turned OFF in the Playback Engine settings:

  1. Launch Pro Tools and go to Setup > Playback Engine
  2. Uncheck the Dynamic Plug-In Processing setting (turn it OFF)
  3. Click on OK to save the changes
